Mogadishu (Dawan Africa) — Hassan Mohamed Hussein, known as Muungaab, who serves as both the Mayor of Mogadishu and the Governor of the Benadir Region, officially inaugurated the Sheikh Osman Xiddig Primary and Secondary School today in the Gubadleey district of Mogadishu. This new school is dedicated to providing education specifically for girls in the region.
Muungaab emphasized the importance of improving and expanding educational facilities, particularly those that focus on girls’ education. He pointed out that advancing education for girls is crucial for the future of the community, as educated women are key to building a stronger society.
The Sheikh Osman Xiddig School is expected to play a major role in furthering girls’ education in the Benadir region, with the goal of creating a supportive environment that encourages girls to pursue quality education and empower themselves for a brighter future.
The school is named in honor of Sheikh Osman Xiddig, a respected scholar who made significant contributions to the spread of Islam in Somalia. Sheikh Osman Xiddig passed away on July 20, 2024, in Mogadishu. His legacy is celebrated through this educational institution, which aims to continue his work by providing educational opportunities for girls.
