Somalia, 21 April 2026 Mogadishu Port workers completed sign language training Monday to help customers with hearing impairments as the port pushes inclusive service delivery.
The training, which focused on sign language skills, was provided to a group of port employees to enable them to communicate effectively with deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals seeking services at the port.
Mogadishu Port Manager, Mohamed Ali Nur ‘Ameriko’, closed the training, praising participants for their commitment and dedication.

Officials said the initiative forms part of broader plans to ensure equal access to public services, particularly for people with special needs.
Participants were equipped with basic sign language skills to facilitate better interaction with hearing-impaired clients, especially at critical service points.
