14 December 2025 - Media Citizens Front, a local non-governmental organisation (NGO) on Saturday hosted the second annual Wajir County Media Summit Dinner in 2025 under the theme “Journalists as Architects of Peace and Community Dialogue”.
The summit brought together 35 journalists representing digital media platforms, radio stations, freelance journalism, and correspondents from leading mainstream media houses.
This diverse and representative gathering reflected a shared commitment to ethical journalism, credible storytelling, and community-centred reporting.
The summit was graced by Chief Guest Mr Ken Bosire, a consulting and training editor, who attended on behalf of the President of the Kenya Editors’ Guild, Ms Zubeida Kananu.
This second annual convening provided a critical platform for reflection on the indispensable role of local journalism in promoting peace, social cohesion, and informed public discourse.
Journalists engaged in thoughtful and practical discussions on conflict-sensitive reporting, ethical journalism, and constructive community engagement as essential tools for combating misinformation, de-escalating tensions, and fostering dialogue.

A special focus was placed on cross-border peacebuilding, with journalists sharing firsthand experiences from inter-county and inter-community reporting.
These exchanges highlighted the media’s unique power to amplify peace narratives, counter harmful rumours, and elevate the voices of marginalised and border communities whose stories are too often overlooked.
Throughout the summit, journalists were recognised not merely as observers, but as active agents of peace.
Through storytelling, investigative reporting, and everyday community engagement, the media continues to play a vital role in bridging divides, building trust, and supporting peaceful coexistence.
The summit concluded with a strong call for deeper regional media collaboration, sustained peace-focused reporting, and joint initiatives that promote stability, trust, and mutual understanding across communities and borders.
