Mbappé Equals Ronaldo Record as Real Madrid Down Sevilla at the Bernabéu

21 December 2025 - Real Madrid tightened their grip on the La Liga title race with a convincing 2–0 victory over Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabéu, thanks to goals from Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappé.

The result keeps Los Blancos firmly in contention at the top of the table as the season reaches its winter break.

The hosts took control in the first half, with Bellingham opening the scoring in the 38th minute. The England international rose highest to meet a well-placed delivery, powering home with a header to give Real Madrid the lead and ease pressure on manager Xabi Alonso.

Sevilla were reduced to 10 men in the 68th minute when defender Marcão was shown a second yellow card, significantly altering the dynamic of the game and leaving the visitors to defend with fewer numbers for the closing stages.

After dominating possession and creating several opportunities, Real Madrid sealed the win late on. In the 86th minute, Mbappé converted a penalty to make it 2–0 and extend his remarkable scoring run. The French forward’s strike marked his 59th goal of 2025, equalling Cristiano Ronaldo’s club record for most goals scored in a calendar year for Real Madrid, a milestone he celebrated emphatically.
