Kenya, 7 July 2026 - The proposed Huduma Centre in Kuria East is emerging as a strategic public investment aimed at lowering the cost of accessing government services while strengthening the region's business environment.
Architectural plans show a modern multi-storey complex designed to accommodate multiple government offices, customer service halls and administrative facilities, signalling a shift towards decentralised service delivery.
The project is already well underway. Kuria East MP Marwa Kitayama said KSh 43 million has so far been disbursed and fully utilised on construction works.
He described the development as a long-term economic asset that will improve efficiency for businesses and residents seeking government services.
"We have already spent KSh 43 million on this important project. What remains is to secure another KSh 150 million to complete the Huduma Centre so that our people can access government services closer home while creating new economic opportunities for the region," Kitayama said.
The lawmaker argued that the investment extends beyond public administration.
Faster access to business registration, licensing, tax services and identification documents is expected to reduce operational costs for entrepreneurs while attracting private investment around the new facility.
The project is financed through the Kuria East National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF), reflecting a growing trend of constituency-level investment in strategic public infrastructure.

Residents led by Chacha Peter hailed the new move as generally attractive, saying the service centres will serve as catalysts for local growth.
They attract banks, insurance firms, retail outlets and hospitality businesses, creating employment and expanding commercial activity.
Construction also injects income into local supply chains through demand for labour, transport and building materials.
For Kuria East, securing the additional KSh 150 million will determine whether the project quickly translates into a functioning economic hub or remains an unfinished capital asset.
If completed on schedule, the Huduma Centre could significantly improve the ease of doing business and reinforce investor confidence in one of Kenya's emerging border economies.
