Kenya, June 23, 2026 - The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has held a high-level consultative meeting with officials from the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) to review the progress of the Garissa–Mandera Road Project, a major infrastructure initiative expected to transform connectivity in Northern Kenya.
The meeting, hosted by KeNHA Director General Eng. Luka Kimeli, focused on the current implementation status of the project, key milestones achieved so far, and strategies aimed at accelerating its completion.
According to KeNHA, the discussions provided an opportunity for both parties to assess progress and strengthen collaboration in the delivery of the critical transport corridor.
Once completed, the Garissa–Mandera Road is expected to significantly improve regional connectivity, facilitate trade, and spur socio-economic development across Northern Kenya. The project is also anticipated to enhance access to essential services for communities living along the route.
The road forms part of broader efforts to improve transport infrastructure and unlock economic opportunities in the region by linking communities and boosting movement of goods and services.
