Kenya, 19 June 2026 - The Kenya National Farmers' Federation (KENAFF) and Extension Africa have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening agricultural extension services and improving farmers' access to knowledge, innovation and advisory support across Kenya and Africa.
The agreement, signed during the World Farmers' Organisation (WFO) Annual Assembly 2026 in Nairobi, seeks to enhance knowledge sharing, farmer capacity building and innovation to help farmers improve productivity, adapt to climate change and access new economic opportunities.
The partnership comes at a time when farmers are increasingly seeking practical solutions to address climate-related challenges, improve yields and strengthen food production systems.
Under the agreement, the two organizations will collaborate to build stronger extension systems that place farmers at the centre of agricultural development and ensure they receive timely and relevant information to support decision-making.
KENAFF said the partnership is intended to expand access to effective support services that enable farmers to improve their livelihoods while contributing to sustainable agriculture and food security.
"Through this partnership, KENAFF and Extension Africa will work together to promote knowledge exchange, farmer capacity building, innovation and stronger extension systems that put farmers at the center of agricultural development," the federation said.
Extension Africa also participated as an exhibitor during the WFO Annual Assembly, where it showcased initiatives aimed at strengthening agricultural extension and advisory services across the continent.
The annual gathering brought together farmer organizations, agribusinesses, researchers, development partners and innovators from different countries to discuss emerging trends and opportunities in agriculture.

A major highlight of the event was an exhibition featuring technologies, products and services designed to drive agricultural transformation and improve resilience among farming communities.
Two days earlier delegates interacted with innovations focused on increasing productivity, promoting sustainable farming practices, enhancing market access and strengthening agricultural value chains.
The exhibition also underscored the importance of partnerships and investment in unlocking agriculture's potential as a driver of economic growth, employment and food security.
KENAFF said the event provided a valuable platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas, forge partnerships and explore solutions to challenges facing the agricultural sector.
Agricultural experts have long emphasized the importance of extension services in bridging the gap between research and farming communities. Effective extension systems help farmers adopt new technologies, access climate information, improve farm management practices and respond to changing market demands.
The KENAFF-Extension Africa partnership is expected to contribute to these efforts by strengthening support systems for farmers and promoting sustainable agricultural development across the continent.
