United States, May 03, 2026 - The summer transfer window is already beginning to take shape, and one of the most intriguing developing stories involves Casemiro, whose expected departure from Manchester United has opened the door to a potential high-profile move to Inter Miami CF.
What initially emerged as speculation has now evolved into a concrete pursuit, with multiple reports confirming that the Major League Soccer side are actively working on a deal.
Casemiro’s situation has been building for months. The Brazilian midfielder, now 34, made the decision earlier in the year to leave Manchester United at the end of the 2025–26 season, following a mutual agreement not to extend his contract.
Despite enjoying a strong resurgence in form, even re-establishing himself as a key figure late in the campaign, his exit has long been anticipated as part of the club’s broader squad rebuild.
With his availability confirmed, attention quickly shifted to his next destination. While interest has come from several regions, including Saudi Arabia and Europe, it is Inter Miami who have emerged as the most persistent and serious contenders.
Following the retirement of Sergio Busquets, the club has been left without a natural midfield anchor, creating a clear gap in both leadership and defensive structure. Internally, there is a strong belief that the team requires an experienced, elite-level holding midfielder to balance the squad and support their attacking stars.
Casemiro fits that profile perfectly.
Reports confirm that:
The project itself appears to be a major factor. Inter Miami are building a globally recognized squad around superstars, including Lionel Messi, and the idea of joining such a project, both competitively and commercially, is said to be highly appealing to Casemiro.
This potential transfer represents more than just a change of club for Casemiro, it signals a new chapter in his career.
After years at the highest level in Europe, including a legendary spell at Real Madrid CF, the Brazilian appears ready for a different kind of challenge. The prospect of moving to the United States offers:
More from Kenya
Reports suggest that Inter Miami’s interest has genuinely “turned his head,” with the overall project resonating on both professional and personal levels.
Despite strong mutual interest, the deal is far from straightforward.
Major League Soccer operates under strict financial regulations, particularly around designated player slots and salary caps. Inter Miami already have multiple high-earning stars, meaning that accommodating Casemiro’s current wages would be extremely difficult.
Key challenges include:
These financial realities mean that while discussions are ongoing, the deal remains complex and unresolved.
Inter Miami are not alone in their pursuit.
Clubs from the Saudi Pro League are reportedly monitoring the situation closely, while European sides have also shown interest. There is even speculation of potential reunions with former teammates elsewhere, highlighting the wide range of options available to the Brazilian.
However, current indications suggest that Inter Miami remain in a strong position, largely due to the appeal of their sporting project and the presence of familiar elite talent. For Manchester United, Casemiro’s departure marks the end of an important chapter.
Although initially brought in to stabilize the midfield, his role has evolved over time, and his exit aligns with the club’s intention to refresh and rebuild the squad. United are already exploring replacements, signaling a shift toward a younger, more dynamic midfield structure.
Letting Casemiro leave also significantly reduces the club’s wage bill, freeing up financial flexibility for new signings.
