Djibouti, 20 September 2026 - A delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross visited a military school in southern Djibouti to assess conditions for migrants.
The delegation visited the President Guouled Military School in Holl-Holl and was accompanied by representatives of the Red Cross organizations of Djibouti and Kenya. It was received by Col. Ibrahim Zakaria Cheikh, Director General of International Relations at the Djiboutian army.
Discussions focused on measures taken by the armed forces to monitor the situation in the area, rescue vulnerable people and respond to their immediate needs.

The ICRC delegation later visited locations where migrants are staying, including a reception camp, to assess conditions and identify needs.
Djibouti is a transit point for migrants travelling along a route connecting East Africa with Yemen and the Arabian Peninsula. Humanitarian organizations say migrants pass through the country each year as they continue their journeys.
The visit is part of efforts to strengthen coordination between the armed forces, local authorities and humanitarian organizations and to improve coordination in responding to issues related to irregular migration.
