Mogadishu (Dawan Africa) – Hormuud Salaam Foundation has announced today that it will award up to 400 university scholarships to Somali secondary school graduates of the 2024/2025 academic year through a nationwide competitive examination. The entrance tests are scheduled to take place on September 3 and 4, 2025, at Hormuud University in Hodan District, Mogadishu, starting from 7:00 AM.According to the announcement, applicants must be graduates of the current academic year and hold official roll numbers issued by the Ministry of Education. Registration for the exams will open on August 30 and close on August 31, or earlier if the maximum of 400 applicants is reached. “We inform Somali students and parents to prepare for this exam,” the Foundation said in its statement.
This year’s scholarships will focus on ten key disciplines, including Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Data Science, Digital Marketing, Mass Communication, Political Science, Geology, Agriculture and Veterinary, Sharia and Law, and Marine Science. The Foundation emphasized that placement will be determined entirely by performance in the entrance examinations, underscoring its merit-based approach.
Hormuud Salaam Foundation also noted that successful candidates will not be limited to studying at Hormuud University. Instead, they will be free to enroll at any accredited university in Somalia, giving students the flexibility to choose their preferred institution.
According to Hormuud Salaam Foundation, the scholarship scheme, launched in 2019, has already provided over 5,000 scholarships to Somali students at various stages of education.
