Somalia, 1 December 2025 — Germany is now recognizing Somali passports, the Director-General of Somalia’s Immigration and Citizenship Agency (ICA), Mustaf Mustafa Duhulow, announced on Tuesday.
Speaking at the opening of a three-day training program on document examination, impostor detection, and behavioral assessment in Mogadishu, Duhulow said international cooperation with Somalia is strengthening, highlighting support from the United Kingdom, which sent a team of experts to provide specialized training in immigration procedures and document verification.

“Many governments have given us time, and they are now recognizing our passports, including Germany,” he said.
UK experts are providing training to strengthen Somalia’s immigration procedures and improve verification of travel documents. Duhulow added that the support reflects increasing confidence in Somalia’s efforts.
