Kenya, June 09, 2026 - Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested four suspects, including two foreign nationals, and recovered suspected narcotic drugs during an intelligence-led operation in Nairobi.
The latest operation comes just a day after Anti-Narcotics Unit officers seized 200 kilograms of cannabis sativa worth approximately Sh6 million and arrested three suspects in Mtopanga, Mombasa County, underscoring an intensified nationwide crackdown on drug trafficking networks.
According to the DCI, detectives attached to the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) at the agency's headquarters conducted a raid at Denluck Apartment following intelligence reports linking the premises to narcotics-related activities.
The operation, carried out at around 7:30 p.m., resulted in the arrest of Gabriel Moses Mathai, 26, Gerald Otieno, 28, Danilo Pejevic, a 25-year-old Serbian national, and Lukundo Samuel Sikombe, a 25-year-old Tanzanian national.
During the raid, officers recovered quantities of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in a basin and a polythene bag.
Detectives also seized several items believed to have been used in the processing, packaging and distribution of narcotics, including a weighing scale, scissors, lighters, Rizla rolling papers, a crusher, rolling materials and small envelopes commonly used for packaging drugs.
The suspects were taken to Muthaiga Police Station, where they are being held pending the completion of investigations and their arraignment in court.

The recovered substances and equipment were transferred to DCI headquarters for documentation, safe custody and forensic analysis.
In a statement, the DCI said the arrests demonstrate its continued commitment to combating the trafficking and abuse of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances across the country.
"The Directorate of Criminal Investigations remains steadfast in the fight against trafficking and abuse of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances," the agency said.
The DCI also appealed to members of the public to continue providing information that may assist investigators in dismantling drug trafficking networks.
The Nairobi arrests come less than 24 hours after ANU detectives in Mombasa recovered cannabis valued at Sh6 million and arrested three suspects in a separate operation in the coastal city.
Security agencies have intensified anti-narcotics operations in recent months amid growing concerns over the proliferation of drug trafficking networks targeting major urban centres and transit routes across the country. Investigations are ongoing to establish whether the Nairobi suspects are linked to wider regional or international drug distribution networks.
