Somalia, 7 May 2026 Somalia's Education Ministry recently establishment a committee to review Somalia's education system to align it will the changing global demands. Below is an explainer about the 15-member committee.
What is the Purpose of This Committee?
The committee is responsible for reviewing the curriculum to align it with international standards while reflecting the culture and needs of Somali society. The panel is also expected to enhance the quality of education in the country and ensure that the curriculum is modern and suitable for the needs of students today and in the future.
Who are the committee members
1. Mohamed Abdulkadir Nur (Chairman) – Over 30 years of experience (1984-2026), having worked in various sectors of education as a teacher, member, and leader.
2. Dr. Adullahi Ahmed Barise (Deputy Chairman) – Nearly 30 years of experience, specializing in curriculum development and educational research.
3. Dr. Ali Abdullahi Warsame (Member) – Over 25 years of experience in teaching and curriculum development.
4. Dr. Abdulkadir Sheikh Mohamed (Member) – Nearly 25 years of experience, specializing in education assessment.
5. Rakiya Ahmed Mohamed (Member) – Over 20 years of experience in education administration and curriculum development.
6. Dr. Mohamed-deck Ibrahim Abdi (Member) – Over 20 years of experience in education and research.
