Jigjiga(Mogadishu24)-The 32nd National Education Conference was opened today in Jigjiga, the administrative capital of Ethiopia’s Somali Region, to discuss a wide range of issues.
The discussions mainly centered on enhancing education quality, fostering a knowledgeable populace, supporting educators, raising societal awareness in the education sector, and ensuring effective curriculum delivery to students.
The Vice President of the Somali region, Ibrahim Osman Farah, pointed out that the region has experienced severe impacts of climate change such as droughts and floods.
Ethiopia’s Somali Regional government has over the years achieved important progress in various sectors, including education.
The regional government has established well-equipped primary, middle, and high schools, increasing the total to 2,370, which is a 24.8% increase.
The conference was attended by the regional Vice President, Hon. Ibrahim Osman Farah, Dr. Birhanu Nega, Ethiopia’s Minister of Education, teachers, and other top government officials.
Last month, the regional government hosted an important conference to commemorate World Teacher’s Day in Jigjiga.
The two-day conference, themed ‘The Global Imperative to Address Teachers Shortages,’ aimed to discuss the roles of teachers in society and serve as an encouragement for their important work.
