Ethiopia, 3 December 2025 – Addis Ababa's Employment and Skills Office has launched a new initiative aimed at employing 30,000 young people under the slogan ‘Skills-Based Job Creation’, as part of the city’s broader strategy to expand economic opportunities and strengthen youth empowerment.
The announcement was made after the office reported that 158,138 permanent jobs have so far been created in Addis Ababa since the start of the current fiscal year.
Deputy Head of the Addis Ababa-based office, Million Matewos, said the city’s annual plan targets the creation of 350,000 jobs, noting that the achievements so far mark an important step toward meeting that goal.
He added that the city administration created employment opportunities for 366,000 people during the previous fiscal year alone.
