Ethiopia, 19 November 2025 – Addis Ababa today hosted the inaugural high-level business forum between Ethiopia and Malaysia, attended by Ethiopian President Taye Aske Selassie and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who arrived on a three-day official visit.
In his remarks, President Selassie highlighted the shared values and development aspirations that unite the two nations.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim praised Ethiopia’s pivotal regional role, recalling the historic migration from Mecca to Abyssinia as a symbolic bridge between peoples.

Both sides agreed to expand cooperation in industry, trade, and investment, and to explore new economic opportunities that serve their mutual interests.
They encouraged Malaysian investors to increase their presence in key sectors including manufacturing, agro-processing, technology, textiles, pharmaceuticals, logistics, and energy.
The visit marks a new phase in strengthening the political and economic partnership between Ethiopia and Malaysia and provides fresh momentum to their growing bilateral cooperation.
