Asmara (Dawan) The Ministry of Information of Eritrea has issued an official press statement addressing Israel’s recognition of Somaliland, saying the move is neither sudden nor unexpected, but rather a long-prepared step aimed at igniting serious disputes with repercussions for the region and the wider international community.
The statement called for a clear and unequivocal response to the decision, particularly at the level of the United Nations Security Council and its member states. It specifically urged China to assume its responsibilities on the issue, pointing to what it described as the evident parallel with the situation of “Taiwan,” which Beijing firmly rejects.
The Eritrean ministry also appealed to the international community to respect international law and to prevent any actions that could trigger conflict and chaos originating from the region.
