Kenya, 24 October 2025 - The iconic English Premier League (EPL) Trophy has officially arrived in Nairobi, marking the start of the 2025/2026 Premier League World Tour.
The glittering silverware was hosted at State House Nairobi by President William Ruto, in an event organised in partnership with Guinness Kenya (EABL) — the official beer of the Premier League.
President Ruto emphasized the government’s commitment to developing modern sports facilities across the country to nurture talent and promote national unity.
“Football runs deep in our national story. Kenya has some of the most passionate football fans anywhere in the world. We are committed to investing in sports infrastructure that nurtures talent, builds our global heritage, and strengthens our sense of nationhood,” said President Ruto during the State House event on Friday.

President Ruto is an ardent fan of Arsenal FC, which is currently on top of the EPL table.
He said that despite Arsenal's rocky journey in the last two decades, "lookout, the Gunners are back!"
The delegation presented gifts to the head of state, including Arsenal jersey number 10 with the initials WSR. He also received a new ball.
The trophy’s arrival has sparked excitement across the city as fans prepare for a weekend of football festivities under the Guinness Matchday Experience, set to take place on Saturday, 25 October and Sunday, 26 October 2025 in Kiambu County.
The two-day event will feature live Premier League match screenings, expert analysis from the Guinness Matchday Committee, and a rare opportunity for fans to take photos with football’s most coveted prize.
The EPL Trophy World Tour gives thousands of fans an exclusive chance to witness the trophy up-close.
Football analysts note that the Premier League continues to dominate African viewership, with Kenya ranking second in EPL popularity (86%), just behind Mauritius (91%), and tied with Malawi, and Uganda.
