Kenya, June 23, 2026 - Three suspects, including an Embakasi East Member of County Assembly (MCA), have been arrested following a police operation in Nairobi that led to the recovery of a Glock pistol and ammunition.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), detectives conducted an operation in the Roasters area and apprehended Embakasi East MCA Patrick Karani alongside Stephen Kimathi Karimoni and Stanley Njogu Irungu.
The arrests were made at the MCA’s office, where officers recovered a Glock pistol loaded with a magazine containing 12 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the firearm was being possessed without a valid license, contrary to Kenya’s firearms laws.
The recovered pistol and ammunition have been secured as exhibits as investigators continue with the case.
The three suspects are currently in police custody and are being processed ahead of their arraignment in court.

In a statement, the DCI reiterated its commitment to enforcing firearms regulations, warning that illegal possession of firearms poses a serious threat to public safety.
The agency further cautioned that individuals found violating firearms laws will face legal action in accordance with the law.
DCI said Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
