Somalia, July 7, 2026 (Dawan) – EgyptAir on Tuesday launched a third scheduled weekly flight between Cairo and Mogadishu, marking another step in expanding air connectivity between Egypt and Somalia amid rising passenger demand.
The inaugural flight was welcomed at Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu in the presence of the Egyptian Ambassador to Somalia, Mohamed Salah Hassan Keshtah, officials from Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation, Mogadishu airport authorities, and representatives of EgyptAir and its local agent in Somalia.
EgyptAir resumed regular flights to Mogadishu on July 12, 2024, after long years of suspension. The relaunch ceremony was attended by the foreign ministers of Egypt and Somalia and was seen as a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in civil aviation.

Since resuming operations, the airline had been operating two weekly flights to the Somali capital on Sundays and Thursdays. Beginning this Tuesday, a third weekly service has been added in response to the sustained increase in passenger traffic between Cairo and Mogadishu.
The Cairo–Mogadishu route has experienced significant growth over the past two years, driven by increased travel for business, tourism, education and medical treatment, as well as a growing number of official delegations and business travellers. The route has become one of EgyptAir’s key links to the Horn of Africa.
The airline is also expected to resume cargo flights to Mogadishu later this year, a move expected to facilitate trade, improve the movement of goods between Egypt and Somalia, and support expanding economic ties between the two countries.
The additional weekly service forms part of EgyptAir’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence across African markets and expand its route network in line with growing demand for air travel between Egypt and the continent.
