Kenya, June 2, 2026 - The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested two Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) employees accused of soliciting and receiving a bribe from a taxpayer in exchange for influencing the resolution of a tax assessment case.
In a statement, the anti-graft agency identified the suspects as Faith Gathoni Njoroge and Tyson Marango Owuor, both attached to KRA's Upper Hill offices in Nairobi.
According to EACC, the arrests followed a complaint from a taxpayer who alleged that the two officials had demanded KSh 3 million to facilitate a favourable outcome in a Capital Gains Tax assessment valued at KSh 4.5 million.
The Commission launched an operation after receiving the complaint. During the sting operation, the suspects were allegedly caught receiving KSh 900,000, which investigators said was part payment of the demanded bribe.

The suspects are currently being processed at the Integrity Centre as investigations continue. The Commission said appropriate action will be taken upon completion of the investigations in accordance with the Anti-Bribery Act, 2016.
The arrests come amid ongoing efforts by the anti-corruption agency to combat bribery and corruption within public institutions and enhance accountability in the delivery of government services.
