N'Djamena, Chad; 27 July 2026 – Djiboutian athlete Aden Waberi Darar has won the International Peace Half Marathon in N'Djamena, taking first place in the 21.1-kilometre main event.
Starting among the pre-race favourites, Darar quickly established his pace and gradually opened a decisive gap over his closest competitors.
He crossed the finish line at Idriss Mahamat Ouya Stadium in 1 hour, 2 minutes and 51 seconds, setting the fastest time ever recorded in the history of the event in N'Djamena.
Kenyan runner Kirwa Geoffrey Kipchirchir finished second in 1 hour, 7 minutes and 14 seconds, while his compatriot Kimani Alfred Muga took third place with a time of 1 hour, 7 minutes and 39 seconds.
Darar's victory once again highlights Djibouti's strong tradition in athletics, particularly in long-distance and middle-distance running, both across East Africa and on the international stage.

The latest triumph adds to a growing list of achievements for the Djiboutian athlete. In June 2024, Darar won the second edition of the International Hargeisa Half Marathon, completing the 21.1-kilometre distance.
He continued his impressive run of form in November 2025, winning the Air Djibouti International 10K in 28 minutes and 19 seconds, a personal best at the time. On 30 December 2025, he claimed another international 10K victory in Angola.
His winning streak continued on 5 July 2026, when he secured victory at the International Médiouna 10K in Morocco, recording a time of 28 minutes and 11 seconds.
His latest success in Chad further strengthens Aden Waberi Darar's growing reputation on the international athletics circuit, placing his name among the notable winners of the International Peace Half Marathon in N'Djamena.
