Djibouti, October 16, 2025 — Djibouti, Yemen and Somaliland have committed to strengthening maritime security in their shared waters.
The agreement was reached during a meeting in Djibouti City, attended by Djibouti Coast Guard Commander Wais Omar Bogoreh, Yemen Coast Guard Commander Khaled Ali Mohammed Saleh and Somaliland Coast Guard Commander Ahmed Hurre Hariye.
According to Djiboutian authorities, the purpose of the discussions was to establish a joint operational framework among the three entities to boost cooperation and monitoring of shared waters.
The talks focused on security in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, some of the busiest maritime routes in the world for international trade and shipping.
Officials emphasized that the initiative demonstrates the commitment of the three sides to work together against piracy, illegal trafficking, and other maritime threats, while also enhancing their collective capacity for coordinated response and regional stability.
