Brussels (Dawan Africa) – Djibouti has reiterated that a political solution is the only viable path to peace in Sudan.
“A political solution remains the only credible path to end the war and build lasting peace in Sudan,” stated Ambassador Isse Khaireh Robleh, Djibouti’s Ambassador to Sudan, during the Fourth International Consultative Group Meeting on June 29, 2025.
Robleh, who was representing Djibouti at the meeting in Brussels, emphasized the country’s unwavering commitment to supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving Sudan’s ongoing conflict. As the current president of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Djibouti continues to play a crucial role as a mediator in the Horn of Africa. The country has long advocated for dialogue and negotiations, rather than military intervention, positioning itself as a key force for peace and stability in the region.
Djibouti’s leadership in the peace process underscores its commitment to Sudan’s sovereignty and the broader goal of achieving a peaceful resolution to the civil war that has devastated Sudan since April 2023. Through its active participation in the International Consultative Group, Djibouti remains a vital player in the international community's efforts to end the conflict and facilitate lasting peace in Sudan.
