Djibouti, 4 May 2026 Djibouti will adjust public office hours starting May 5, under a presidential decree to adapt to summer heat and improve efficiency.
President Ismail Omar Guelleh approved the changes, with government offices set to operate from 8am to 3pm, Sunday through Thursday, according to state media, ADI.
The measure forms part of seasonal adjustments introduced during periods of high temperatures, which are common in Djibouti’s summer months.
The new schedule will not apply to educational institutions and health facilities, which will continue operating under their existing systems.

The decree assigns ministers responsibility for ensuring the implementation of the new working hours, while considering operational needs and continuity of public services.
Authorities said the change is intended to balance climate conditions, workplace productivity and energy consumption during the summer period.
