Djibouti, 5 October 2025 — The Djiboutian government has received 28 new waste collection trucks for improving hygiene and sanitation services in Djibouti City.
The initiative is funded in partnership with Salaam Bank.
The vehicles were unveiled on Saturday at the Djibouti Waste Management Agency’s headquarters, with officials from both the government and Salaam Bank present.
Jama Hirsi Abdi, Director-General of Salaam Bank, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to urban hygiene projects.
“"We pledge to support all future necessary efforts, particularly those aimed at improving the cleanliness and aesthetics of the city.” he stated.
Said Nuh Hassan, the Minister of the Interior of Djibouti, expressed his gratitude to Salaam African Bank for their support, calling the initiative a significant step toward improving the city’s cleanliness and hygiene.
The new trucks are expected to enhance waste removal efficiency and contribute to a cleaner, healthier environment in the capital.
