Djibouti, 15 December 2025 - Djibouti President, Ismail Omar Guelleh, on Monday received letters of credence from newly appointed ambassadors of Canada, Switzerland, Indonesia, Mexico, and Venezuela.
The new ambassadors are Switzerland’s Riccarda Chanda, Canada’s Nicolas Simard, Indonesia’s Faizal Chery Sidharta, Mexico’s Alejandro Ives Estivill Castro, and Venezuela’s Eddy Jose Cordova.
The diplomats expressed their commitment to strengthening relations between their respective countries and Djibouti in areas ranging from trade to security.
Ambassador Simard said Canada seeks to expand cooperation with Djibouti, in security, climate change, and energy. He welcomed a recently signed agreement between Djibouti and a Canadian company specializing in geothermal energy.

On his part, the Indonesian Ambassador highlighted the longstanding historical ties between the two countries and expressed interest in enhancing cooperation in trade, energy, infrastructure, and maritime commerce.
Meanwhile, Venezuela’s Ambassador praised President Guelleh’s leadership and reaffirmed his country’s willingness to broaden bilateral cooperation.
President Guelleh assured the ambassadors of support from the Government and the people of Djibouti in their diplomatic duties.
