Addis Ababa (Dawan Africa) – The Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority (DPFZA) inaugurated a new regional headquarters in Addis Ababa on July 4, 2025, aiming to enhance trade and infrastructure cooperation between Djibouti, Ethiopia, and the wider Great Lakes region.
According to a statement from DPFZA, the new office will serve as a key link for promoting logistics and trade facilitation, particularly for Ethiopia — a landlocked country heavily reliant on Djibouti’s ports for imports and exports.
“This office is designed to operate in Ethiopia and the surrounding countries of the Great Lakes region, strengthening connections and cooperation in trade and infrastructure,” said the authority.
The Addis Ababa office will bring together all entities under the Great Horn Investment Holding (GHIH), including Doraleh Container Terminal, Doraleh Multipurpose Port, Port Autonome de Tadjourah, and the Djibouti Damerjog Industrial Development Free Trade Zone (DDID FTZ).
The move is part of Djibouti’s broader strategy to position itself as a regional trade and logistics leader, building stronger economic ties across the Horn of Africa.
