Djibouti, 8 November 2025 — The Coast Guard Training Center in Doraleh, on the outskirts of Djibouti City, hosted the closing ceremony of the annual multinational military exercise known as “Bull Shark 2025.”
The exercise, which lasted several weeks, brought together forces from U.S. AFRICOM, the European Union Naval Force (Operation ATALANTA), the Japanese Self-Defense Forces stationed in Djibouti, and the Djibouti Coast Guard.
The training aimed to strengthen military cooperation among participating nations and enhance joint operational capabilities in maritime security and coastal defense.
The Commander of the Djibouti Coast Guard, Colonel Wa’eys Omar Boqorre, who presided over the closing ceremony, said the program had significantly improved coordination and interoperability among the various maritime forces.
“This training has strengthened both the skills and confidence shared among our forces and is crucial for ensuring maritime security, saving lives, and protecting international trade routes that pass through the Red Sea,” said Col. Boqorre.
Other military officials who attended the ceremony praised the strong strategic ties among the participating nations, describing the exercise as a model for how regional maritime security can be reinforced through cooperation.
The “Bull Shark 2025” exercise took place in a strategically vital area that serves as a major global shipping corridor, once again underscoring Djibouti’s position as a central hub for security and defense collaboration in the Horn of Africa.
