Djibouti, 22 June 2026 – Djibouti’s Minister of Muslim Affairs and Waqf Properties Moumin Hassan Barreh honoured members of the Hajj mission after it won Saudi Arabia’s gold award for 2026 pilgrimage organization.
The Djiboutian Hajj mission received the “Labbaytoum” Gold Award in recognition of the arrangements it put in place to help national pilgrims perform the Hajj, according to the Djiboutian News Agency.
About 1,400 pilgrims from Djibouti took part in this year’s Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
The Labbaytoum Awards are presented annually to countries and institutions assessed for the quality of services they provide to pilgrims performing Hajj. The awards are among the key recognitions aimed at encouraging improvements in Hajj services.

The award was granted to Djibouti for the quality of the mission’s organisational system and the services provided to Djiboutian pilgrims during the pilgrimage.
A ceremony was held at the People’s Palace in Djibouti, attended by government officials, senior staff from the Ministry of Muslim Affairs and members of the teams mobilised during the Hajj season.
Barreh presented certificates of recognition to members of the mission and said the Saudi award was an honour for Djibouti and helped strengthen the country’s image.
He urged the Hajj mission to continue improving services and provide greater support to Djiboutian pilgrims in future seasons.
