Djibouti, 31 October 2025 — The Djibouti International Free Trade Zone (DIFTZ) announced on Thursday that 400 new jobs were created between September and October 2025 through one of its companies, underscoring its role in promoting employment and workforce development.
According to the Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority (DPFZA), the new recruits include young professionals hired across key sectors such as logistics and transport, welding, electrical systems installation and maintenance, and mechanical and electrical engineering.
The initiative forms part of DIFTZ’s broader strategy to empower youth and expand technical skills training, in line with Djibouti’s economic diversification and employment goals.
“These initiatives reflect DIFTZ’s commitment to fostering job creation and building a skilled workforce for Djibouti’s growing economy,” the Free Zone said in a statement.
The announcement comes as Djibouti steps up efforts to tackle high unemployment — particularly among youth — which the World Bank estimates at over 70 per cent.
Officials said the initiative underscores DIFTZ’s ongoing commitment to generating sustainable employment and strengthening Djibouti’s position as a regional hub for trade and logistics.
