Djibouti, 13 November 2025 — Djibouti is exploring closer cooperation with Saudi Arabia in the hydrocarbons sector, including potential partnerships with Saudi Aramco, the country’s Energy Minister said on Thursday.
Yonis Ali Guedi, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, met with the newly appointed Saudi Ambassador to Djibouti, Matrek Abdullah Matrek Aldosari, to discuss large-scale energy and mining projects that could benefit both nations.
The meeting, hosted by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, included senior officials and technical advisors.
Guedi highlighted Saudi Arabia’s recent economic transformation and invited Saudi private investors to explore opportunities in Djibouti.

He also proposed closer collaboration between the International Hydrocarbons Company of Djibouti (SIHD) and Saudi Aramco in the hydrocarbons sector.
The minister reaffirmed Djibouti’s participation in the Future Minerals Forum (FMF) in Riyadh in January 2026, where bilateral meetings with energy and mining counterparts are planned.
Technical advisors Abass Aden Atteyeh, Mahdi Waberi Hassan, and Aden Hyd Ismael attended the meeting, underscoring the country’s focus on strengthening technical expertise and strategic partnerships in the energy sector.
