Djibouti, 4 May 2026 Djibouti is expanding vocational training programmes to reduce youth unemployment, aiming to give young people skills for available jobs.
The National Institute of Public Administration is leading the implementation of the programmes, which target hundreds of young people through structured training initiatives, the state media ADI reported.
The initiative forms part of the World Bank-funded “Skills” project designed to strengthen employability by providing practical and market-relevant competencies.

Officials said the training focuses on key areas including public administration, monitoring and evaluation, public procurement, and workplace health and safety.
The programmes also include sessions delivered by international experts and offers internship opportunities to help participants gain hands-on experience.
Djibouti authorities said the expansion of vocational training is a key step toward addressing unemployment, particularly among youth, by building a workforce capable of competing in both domestic and international labour markets.
