MOSCOW, September 20, 2026 - A delegation from Djibouti has joined international observers monitoring elections for the State Duma, the lower house of Russia’s parliament, the Djibouti News Agency (ADI) reported on Saturday.
The delegation includes Kassim Haroun Ali, a representative of Djibouti’s citizens’ rights protection body. The international election observation mission is taking place from September 16 to 23.
Russian voters are choosing the 450 members of the State Duma, with voting being conducted at polling stations across the country.
The Djibouti delegation is part of a group of foreign observers invited by the Russian authorities to monitor the elections. The observers include institutional representatives and government officials from several countries.

Their work focuses on assessing the conduct of voting, compliance with electoral procedures and transparency in the management of polling stations.
Djibouti’s participation comes as Moscow seeks to expand its diplomatic relations and political cooperation with African countries.
The elections are expected to determine the balance of power in the State Duma and shape the parliament’s relationship with the Kremlin in the coming term.
