Somalia, 17 December 2025 - Djibouti Defence Minister Hassan Omar Mahamed arrived in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, on Monday to attend the 35th Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Defense and Security of the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF), which began on December 13.
The meeting initially took place at the expert and technical level, with discussions expected to culminate in high-level sessions involving the Defense Ministers and senior officials from the 10 member countries of the organization.
Key agenda items for the meeting include a thorough review of the organization's budget, financial audit reports, and a detailed assessment of the impact of conflicts currently affecting member states in the region.

The ministerial session will conclude on December 18, with decisions expected on the discussed issues during the meeting.
This marks the second time that Somalia has hosted the EASF meeting this year, solidifying its significant role in regional security affairs and military cooperation efforts among member states.
