Djibouti, 12 April 2026 Djibouti says its coast guard has intercepted a vessel coming from Yemen carrying armed smugglers and migrants attempting to enter the country’s territorial waters illegally.
The operation, which took place near the Assa Fod area in Obock, resulted in the arrest of nine migrants in an irregular migration situation, according to security officials.
The report also indicated that the vessel was accompanied by armed traffickers carrying one AK-47 assault rifle and two magazines of ammunition, believed to have been facilitating the illegal landing of migrants along Djibouti’s coastline.
