Kenya, 11 April 2026 - The Coca-Cola Company has introduced Charged, a new energy drink in the Kenyan market, making Kenya one of only two African countries where the product has been launched.
Speaking during the launch, Director of Frontline Marketing, Coca-Cola Kenya, Monique Katana said that the drink has already been debuted in markets including India, Nepal, Vietnam, and South Africa.
Charged will be available in two flavours, Lemon Burst and Electric Pineapple, according to the company.
“We are excited to introduce Charged to Kenya, offering consumers the fuel they need to maximize each day,” Katana said.
"This launch highlights The Coca-Cola Company’s dedication to innovation and our mission to provide a diverse range of beverages that meet the evolving tastes and lifestyles of our consumers," she added.

James Bowmaker, General Manager of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa in Kenya, said that the company is set to launch a nationwide campaign to give consumers an opportunity to taste and give their feedback on the new products.
“Charged delivers bold new flavours designed to resonate with younger consumers, offering a refreshing way to fuel their day,” Bowmaker said.
With its product sold in more than 200 countries, Coca-Cola remains one of the world’s largest beverage corporations.
Since 1896, the company has grown from its signature product, Coca-Cola, to other popular drinks such as Fanta and Sprite, alongside non-carbonated options like Dasani and Minute Maid.
Since its entry into the Kenyan market in 1948, the company has maintained a strong presence, especially by supporting local supply chains and creating jobs.
Over the years, the soft drink market has experienced significant growth in the country.
While carbonated soft drinks remain popular, demand is rising for bottled water, juices, and energy drinks.
Energy drink consumption in Kenya has risen by about 15 percent between 2021 and 2024, which has been driven by enhanced marketing, increased affordability, and a young population.
Some notable energy drink brands in Kenya include Predator, Sting, Red Bull, and Monster Energy, among others, which have dominated the market sector due to their affordability, marketing, and distribution in supermarkets and kiosks.
