Morocco, 20 January 2026 The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has strongly condemned the controversial walk-off by the Senegalese national team during the Africa Cup of Nations final, in Rabat, Morocco, on Sunday.
CAF stated that it completely rejects any inappropriate behavior occurring on the field, especially those targeting referees or game organizers. The organization emphasized that the protection of discipline, respect for the rules of the game, and the safety of all participants are of utmost priority.
"CAF strongly condemns any unacceptable conduct during matches, especially actions targeting referees or event organizers, and is reviewing all footage to take legal action against anyone found guilty of wrongdoing," read the statement.
The walk-off delayed the match for more than a quarter of an hour before resuming and ending in Senegal's favour.
