July 8, 2026 - Wajir South MP Mohamed Adow has commissioned a new borehole for Ndege Village in Habaswein Town, a project funded by Pious Projects from the USA and implemented by the Somali Lifeline Organization (SOLO), a non-governmental organization.
The commissioning of the fully-fledged, well-equipped borehole, which has a high-yielding water supply, was attended by donors, partners, community members, the security team, and the press.
The new Ndege Borehole is the 64th drilled by the MP since he took office in September 2022, marking another significant milestone in expanding access to clean and reliable water across Wajir South.
The borehole will provide a sustainable source of water for drinking, livestock, and household use. With the harsh effects of climate change in the region and recurring severe droughts, it will also benefit neighbouring communities by improving access to safe water and strengthening resilience against water scarcity.
The establishment of the borehole is essential not only for immediate water needs but also for long-term community health and sustainability.
With reliable access to safe drinking water, local households can reduce reliance on unsafe sources, leading to better health outcomes and a lower incidence of waterborne diseases.

Additionally, the borehole can serve as a foundation for agricultural activities, enabling families to cultivate crops and raise livestock despite adverse weather conditions.
As neighbouring communities also benefit from this resource, it fosters collaboration and support among residents, creating a stronger network for sharing water management practices and resources.
