July 21, 2026 - Senior government officials visited Lafey Constituency in Mandera County, where they met residents during a public engagement aimed at promoting development, strengthening security, and reiterating the government's commitment to the region.
The Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetang'ula, led a high-level government delegation to Lafey Constituency in Mandera County for a public engagement with residents. The delegation included Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Barre Duale, and other mandera leaders.
Speaking during the gathering, Speaker Wetang'ula urged residents to continue fostering peace, unity, and harmonious coexistence, saying stability remains the foundation for sustainable development and economic growth.
He further urged Lafey residents to support President William Ruto’s administration for a second term, saying continued backing of the government would help the constituency benefit from more development projects and improved public services.
He urged residents to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise so that they are not left out of decisions that will shape the future direction and development of the region.
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Barre Duale emphasized the government's commitment to the development of the North Eastern region, saying the Kenya Kwanza administration remains focused on expanding access to essential services, improving infrastructure, and enhancing security.
He also called on residents to continue supporting President William Ruto's administration, noting that close cooperation between the government and local communities is key to accelerating development projects.

During the gathering Lafey MP Mohamed Abdi Khair while distributing motorcycles to security officers and area chiefs said this forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen public institutions and improve service delivery, particularly in remote areas where limited mobility continues to hinder access to essential services.
He noted that the motorcycles will support the work of security personnel in maintaining law and order, while also enabling school administrators to effectively supervise educational institutions across the constituency.
Area Residents who attended the event welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism that the additional transport resources would improve security response, enhance the delivery of public services, and contribute to the overall development of Lafey Constituency.
The visit is part of the government's continued engagement with communities in North Eastern Kenya through investments aimed at improving security, education, healthcare, and other essential services.
