Somalia, 5 October 2025 — Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in the southern port city of Kismayo on Sunday for consultations on the country’s state-building process, according to a statement from Villa Somalia, the presidential palace in Mogadishu.
The presidency said the visit is part of ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation between the Federal Government and Federal Member States, as well as to promote unity and dialogue on Somalia’s political roadmap.
In a statement, Villa Somalia said:
"The President’s visit to Kismayo is part of continuous efforts to strengthen national unity, promote mutual understanding, and align views on Somalia’s political future."
Upon his arrival, President Mohamud was welcomed at Kismayo airport by Jubaland’s regional leader, Ahmed Mohamed Islam, commonly known as Ahmed Madobe, alongside senior Jubaland officials.
