Djibouti, 12 April 2026 The United States government has congratulated Djibouti President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh on his re-election.
A statement issued by the U.S. Embassy in Djibouti said the United State government welcomed the election outcome and commended Djibouti’s political stability.
“The United States congratulates President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh on his re-election as President of the Republic of Djibouti,” the statement said.
Washington also reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the close bilateral relationship between the two countries, with a focus on advancing economic prosperity, regional stability, and East African security.

The statement added that cooperation between the United States and Djibouti remains vital for promoting peace and security in the region, particularly in addressing ongoing security challenges in the Horn of Africa.
Djibouti is considered a strategically important country in the region, hosting several foreign military bases, which makes it a key hub for security operations and trade in East Africa.
