South Sudan, 19 July 2026 - United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General, Senator Hassan Omar Hassan, has arrived in Juba, South Sudan, leading a high-powered party delegation for a series of strategic Party-to-Party engagements with the ruling Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM).
The visit marks another step in UDA's efforts to expand its regional political diplomacy by fostering stronger institutional ties with governing political parties across East Africa. The engagements are expected to focus on enhancing collaboration, sharing governance experiences and strengthening party structures through sustained dialogue.
Upon arrival at Juba International Airport, the UDA delegation received a warm welcome from SPLM Second Deputy Secretary General, Comrade Baba Medan Konyi, alongside Kenya's Deputy Head of Mission and Chargé d'Affaires in Juba, Mr Benedict L. Watamba, underscoring the significance attached to the visit by both the South Sudanese ruling party and the Kenyan diplomatic mission.
The Kenyan delegation includes UDA National Organising Secretary and Mwala Member of Parliament, Hon. Vincent Kawaya, as well as other senior party officials who are participating in the bilateral consultations.

During their stay, the two parties are expected to hold structured discussions aimed at strengthening institutional cooperation, promoting political exchange programmes, building leadership capacity and exploring areas of mutual interest that can contribute to regional stability, democratic governance and socio-economic development.
The visit reflects the growing importance of Party-to-Party diplomacy within the East African region, with UDA and the SPLM seeking to deepen long-term cooperation while reinforcing the cordial relations that exist between Kenya and South Sudan. Both parties are expected to explore frameworks for sustained engagement that will further strengthen political collaboration and foster closer regional integration.
