Cairo, 28 December 2025 The Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates to the League of Arab States, Ambassador Hamad Obaid Al Zaabi, has announced his country’s full support for the Federal Republic of Somalia, affirming Abu Dhabi’s backing for all efforts that enhance Somalia’s security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
The remarks were made as Ambassador Al Zaabi chaired the extraordinary session of the Arab League Council at the level of permanent representatives, convened at the request of the Federal Republic of Somalia and supported by member states.
The meeting was held to discuss condemning Israel’s recognition of Somalia’s northwestern region, referred to as “Somaliland,” and to reaffirm solidarity with Somalia in the face of what was described as an infringement on its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

At the outset of his address, Al Zaabi welcomed participants and expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States for its preparation and organization of the emergency meeting. He also commended the permanent representatives for their cooperation and swift response in convening the extraordinary session to consider Somalia’s request.
“Based on the close relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Federal Republic of Somalia, the UAE reiterates its absolute support for Somalia in all that contributes to strengthening its security and stability, preserving its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and ensuring a dignified life for the Somali people,” Al Zaabi concluded.
