Somalia, 27 October 2025 — The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has donated two fire trucks to the Banadir Regional Administration to strengthen emergency response capabilities in Mogadishu.
The handover ceremony took place in Mogadishu today, with Banadir Regional Governor and Mayor of Mogadishu, Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), officially receiving the vehicles from UAE Ambassador to Somalia, Ahmed Juma Mohamed Al-Remeithi.
Banadir Regional Governor said the donation is in response to a request from the Somali government, particularly the Banadir administration to help improve municipal services, fire response, and public safety.
Governor Muungaab expressed his gratitude to the UAE for its continued support of the Somali people, describing the donation as a symbol of strengthened cooperation between Mogadishu and Abu Dhabi.
“We hope these fire trucks will play a key role in enhancing the capacity of our fire teams to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies,” Muungaab said.
The event was also attended by Somalia’s Minister of Interior, Ali Yusuf Ali (Xoosh), along with other senior officials from the federal government and Banadir administration.
The donation underscores ongoing cooperation between Somalia and the UAE, focusing on improving municipal services, emergency response, and public safety in Mogadishu.
