DJIBOUTI, July 15, 2026 – Two men appeared before prosecutors in Djibouti City accused of sexually assaulting two 12-year-old children, according to the National Gendarmerie.
The two cases are reportedly unrelated but occurred on the same day in two different districts of the capital.
Officers from the Research and Documentation Section, known as the SRD, launched investigations after the alleged assaults were reported to personnel stationed at the One-Stop Centre at Cheicko Hospital in Balbala.
The officers quickly escorted the children to the appropriate care facility before opening investigations into the allegations.

During the investigations, SRD officers identified two suspects, who were subsequently arrested and presented before the Public Prosecutor.
The two accused men are now in the custody of the judicial authorities as further legal proceedings continue.
According to the National Gendarmerie, the suspects could face prison sentences of up to 20 years if convicted.
