Djibouti, 8 October 2025 — Two people were killed and four others seriously injured on Wednesday afternoon in a collision between a heavy truck and a commercial vehicle on a busy highway, according to the Djibouti News Agency (ADI).
The accident occurred around 3:00 p.m. on a recently opened road section close to the Djibouti International Free Zone (DPFZA). Preliminary reports indicated that a Sinotruck and a Dyna-type vehicle, both registered in Djibouti, collided head-on, although the circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation.
Rescue workers described the impact as “extreme,” with both vehicles showing severe deformation. Emergency teams quickly transported the injured to hospitals in the capital.
Authorities have launched investigations to determine the exact cause of the crash. Officials also urged drivers to exercise caution on this section of the highway, which is partially under construction and where speeding continues to contribute to accidents.
