Hargeisa, 20 August 2026 — Two children died after a fire broke out at a makeshift home in the Kaam Digaale displacement area on the southern outskirts of Hargeisa, Somaliland National Television reported on Wednesday, citing the national fire service.
The children, aged 2 and 4, died after the fire engulfed the home, according to the report.
The house, which was made of corrugated metal sheets, was located in the displacement settlement on the southern outskirts of Mohamed Mooge district, the report said.

Firefighters recovered the children's bodies and handed them over to police, according to the report.
The report did not provide further details on the cause of the fire or whether anyone else was injured.
