Kenya, May 20, 2026 - Two suspected drug traffickers have been arrested in Kilifi after detectives seized cannabis sativa worth approximately Sh4.2 million during an anti-narcotics operation.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the suspects were arrested in a raid conducted by officers from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) in the Kisumu Ndogo area of Kilifi town.
The suspects were identified as Eisha Mzungu Kalama and Jamal Chilumo Chiraga.
According to the DCI, the operation was intelligence-led and targeted a house believed to be used as a storage and distribution point for narcotics.
“In a well-coordinated intelligence-led operation, detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit based in Kilifi raided a house in Kisumu Ndogo area of Kilifi town, where they arrested the two suspects,” the agency said in a statement.
Detectives recovered two-and-a-half sacks of cannabis sativa wrapped in brown khaki paper during the raid.
The drugs weighed 142 kilogrammes and were allegedly ready for distribution.
“During the operation, detectives conducted a swift search of the premises, uncovering two and a half sacks of cannabis sativa wrapped in brown khaki paper, weighing 142 kilograms, ready for distribution,” the DCI said.
The suspects were taken to Kilifi Police Station alongside the seized narcotics as investigations into the trafficking network continue.
“The seized narcotic drugs are being held as exhibits as investigations continue into the suspected trafficking network,” the statement added.
The two are expected to be arraigned after completion of police processing.
