Kenya, 29 November 2025 - A total of 10 illegally held firearms have now been voluntarily surrendered in Kirima Sub-County, marking a significant stride in Laikipia’s ongoing efforts to curb banditry and restore lasting peace.
Security officials say the latest recovery—a lone AK-47 rifle handed in by a resident in the Louniek area—adds to a growing list of surrendered weapons that includes nine AK-47 rifles, one carbine rifle, 56 rounds of ammunition, 13 magazines, and a bayonet.
The newly surrendered rifle, which came with an empty magazine, has been secured at Olmoran Police Station pending further administrative action.
Police have lauded the cooperation of residents and local leaders, noting that each voluntary surrender strengthens ongoing peace initiatives and reflects rising trust in government-led disarmament campaigns.
